ClassCoach is an intelligent online learning solution that uses the power of data analytics to build individual student profiles. Student profiles are used to deliver tailored online tutoring sessions that focus on the individual requirements of each student.

Our story

Why we exist

Teaching Maths is not easy; it is almost like teaching someone another language. Throw into the mix hectic work schedules, time constraints and increased academic pressures and it all becomes very daunting. Not to mention it only gets harder as students get older. The existing support options often require driving to a second location after school or inviting someone into your home which isn’t always convenient. Add in subscription fees and lock in contracts and getting the support you need can all become too much.

What we do

Our expertise is dedicated 1:1 online maths tutoring for students from Grade 3 to University. Using live audio chat and an interactive whiteboard, we provide expert tutoring when and where you need it. ClassCoach is a learning platform built for today’s students and their busy lifestyle. With no lock in contracts/subscriptions and the ability to book a session with just 15 minutes notice, we are the tutoring service for the modern generation.

More than just tutoring

We want to be part of each student’s educational journey and provide the complete learning experience to ensure success at school/university.

We’re a learning platform that is suitable for the learning style of GenZ or iGen students. Yes, we still use a whiteboard; yes, we still provide 1:1 tutoring to students and yes, we teach the same mathematics that has been taught over the last 100 years.

We don’t want to change the core concepts of traditional tutoring. Simply put, we want to enhance the experience and increase the effectiveness and accessibility of tutoring by utilising amazing technology to get more out of the time students spend with tutors.

Data to the rescue

We provide 1000s of online questions and quizzes aligned to the Australian national curriculum that students can access at anytime to practice their skills. We use the data gathered from every quiz, test and question to build a picture of every student’s strengths and areas to focus on. This information is used to create tailored tutorial sessions that meet the specific needs of each ClassCoach student. To ensure the continuity of each tutorial session, tutors complete detailed feedback on every session to make sure nothing is missed in the learning process.

Through data analysis we are able to ensure each and every student is getting the best possible value out of their personalised tutorial sessions. Students also have the ability to rewatch all of their tutorial sessions any time just in case they missed something.

Our challenge

Australia is falling behind the rest of the world when it comes to education. In some instances, Australia is 5 years behind the world standard. We’re dedicated to providing high quality, affordable and convenient online learning that is tailored to the individual needs of each student. Through our two-way audio platform, data analytics and questions aligned to the national curriculum we can provide online learning support personalised to meet the needs of students across Australia and lift our educational standing.

Philip Dooley

Philip Dooley CEO & Co-Founder

Big decisions cannot be made without reliable data. As an oil and gas expert I always relied on data to help formulate all my decisions and recommendations. For a long time I have believed that there was a gap in the tutoring market with little to no companies using data to elevate the tutoring experience.

In 2016 I decided to fill this gap and with the help of our Head of Technology, we started ClassCoach.

Today my goal is to provide all Australian students and parents with quality and affordable tutoring driven by data. ClassCoach is the product of 16 months of bringing this vision to life. Through the integration of data analytics and online tutoring I believe we are able to deliver a complete learning experience for all Australian Students.

Philip has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (UNSW) and a Masters of Business Administration (Dean’s Award) from University of Queensland.

As a teacher I have always been passionate about education and the learning of our students. As a parent I am also well aware of the pace and pressures that come with children and the need for an easy and affordable solution.

Starting at ClassCoach has given me the opportunity to help provide a convenient online learning solution driven by student data that genuinely supports students improve their grades while reducing the strain on the rest of the family.

I truly believe that ClassCoach provides a learning solution suitable for all families in a way that is both convenient and cost effective.

Penny Spirou

Penny Spirou Communications

Having worked as a researcher and lecturer since starting my PhD Candidature in 2007, I have been invested in the student experience. Having spent most of my life as a student, I have worked hard to understand the way that students learn and what impacts on their success at university. Since graduating with my PhD in 2012, I have published articles on education and student experience, and mentored students from undergraduate level through to professional doctorate.

Joining in 2016, I believe that ClassCoach is more than just a tutoring platform. It is a student hub where parents, students, teachers and tutors come together to engage in the learning journey.

Penny has a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Film and Theatre (Honours UNSW) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies from Macquarie University.
